Horstead quarry to become water reservoir under restoration plan

Norfolk County Council has approved plans to convert part of Stanninghall Quarry near Horstead into a two-hectare agricultural water storage reservoir. The reservoir will help reduce groundwater abstraction and must be completed before the site is fully restored to farmland by 2038.

Council Backs British Food Labelling Campaign to Close 'Flag Loophole'

Norfolk County Council has voted to write to the government demanding stronger country-of-origin food labelling rules, after passing a motion targeting the so-called 'flag loophole' that allows overseas-grown food to carry the Union Flag. The motion passed 40 votes to 1, with 11 abstentions.

Norfolk Adopts New Environment Strategy to Replace 2009 Policy

Cabinet has approved a new Environmental Policy and Environment Strategy for Norfolk County Council, replacing a framework that dated from 2009. The strategy is built around five strategic pillars and will apply environmental considerations across all council services and decisions.
