Norfolk Pension Fund approves 2026-27 budget including new staff posts

The Pensions Committee has signed off the Norfolk Pension Fund's budget for 2026-27, which includes funding for new staff positions created as part of a recent governance restructure. Specific budget figures were not disclosed in the public part of the meeting.

The Norfolk Pension Fund's budget for the financial year 2026-27 has been approved by the Pensions Committee at its meeting on 10 March 2026.

The budget includes funding for new full-time positions that were agreed earlier in the year as part of a restructure of the fund's governance arrangements and management framework. The Pension Fund Accountant, Charlotte Freeman, confirmed these posts had already been signed off before the budget was finalised.

The detailed figures were not made public during the open session of the meeting. Items covering financial and commercial details were discussed behind closed doors under Section 100A of the Local Government Act 1972, on the grounds that disclosure could harm third parties or expose the council to legal risk.

The Norfolk Pension Fund administers retirement benefits for local government employees across Norfolk, including those working for the county council, district councils, and other public bodies in the area.
