About Norwich / Earth
Norfolk County Council makes decisions that affect the lives of nearly a million people. Those decisions are recorded in meeting minutes that are publicly available — but often written in dense, formal language that can be hard to follow.
Norwich / Earth takes those meeting minutes and translates them into clear, readable news articles using AI. The goal is simple: make local democracy more accessible.
How it works
- We automatically collect meeting minutes from the Norfolk County Council CMIS system.
- The minutes are processed by AI (Claude by Anthropic) to extract key decisions and rewrite them in plain English.
- Articles are categorised by topic and published here for anyone to read.
Important notes
- This is not an official council publication. Articles are AI-generated summaries. Always refer to the original council documents for official records.
- AI can make mistakes. If you spot an error, the original source documents are linked at the bottom of every article.
- We do not editorialize. Articles aim to report facts from the minutes, not provide commentary or opinion.
Open source
This project is open source. If you'd like to contribute, report an issue, or adapt it for your own local council, you're welcome to.
