99 Local Road Improvement Schemes Approved Across Norfolk

Cabinet has approved 99 highway improvement schemes for 2026-27 under the long-running Highways Parish Partnership programme, which matches funding from town and parish councils pound for pound. The total investment this year is £769,000.

Ninety-nine road and safety improvements will be delivered across Norfolk in 2026-27 after Cabinet approved the latest round of the Highways Parish Partnership programme.

The programme, which has been running for 15 years, works by matching contributions from town and parish councils with equal funding from Norfolk County Council. This year's total investment is £769,000, with local councils contributing half.

The approved schemes include 68 local highway improvements and 31 vehicle-activated speed signs. Since the programme launched in 2011, it has delivered 1,472 local improvements across the county.

Cabinet members highlighted the programme's role in helping local communities address specific problems in their areas, such as speeding. The Chair, Cllr Kay Mason Billig, said she had also spoken to the Police and Crime Commissioner for Norfolk about increasing speed enforcement in problem areas.
