Norfolk prepares response to national SEND shake-up
The government announced major reforms to special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) provision on 23 February 2026, and Norfolk County Council is now working out how to respond. Norfolk Apprenticeship Strategy Renewed as County Reaches 5,100 Apprentices
Cabinet has endorsed an updated apprenticeship strategy for 2026 to 2028, as figures show Norfolk now has 5,112 apprentices — a 4% rise on the previous year. Norfolk County Council itself employs 600 apprentices across departments including social work and law.
Council to Buy Former Swaffham Catholic School Site for New Primary
Norfolk County Council has approved the purchase of the former Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School site in Swaffham to provide a new primary school for the town. The acquisition supports the council's School Sufficiency Plan and was chosen over an alternative site that would have cost more than double the price.
