Norfolk to host innovation conference as council fights to keep young people in county
Norfolk County Council plans to hold a Norfolk Innovation Conference in September 2027 to attract investment and encourage young people to stay in the county. The event aims to showcase local business innovation and boost collaboration across Norfolk's economy, with a particular focus on supporting high streets and the agricultural sector.
Norfolk County Council will host a Norfolk Innovation Conference in September 2027, Cabinet agreed at its meeting on 11 September 2026. The event is intended to showcase innovation across Norfolk businesses, attract outside investment, and encourage young people to remain in the county rather than leave for opportunities elsewhere.
The Cabinet Member for Business, Skills and Agriculture told colleagues that supporting Norfolk's high streets was central to sustaining the county's tourism sector, alongside protecting its agricultural industry. The conference is part of a broader effort to strengthen the local economy and create conditions that make Norfolk an attractive place to build a career.
The announcement came as Cabinet formally adopted its new "Standing Up for Norfolk" strategy, which sets out five core commitments for the administration over the next four years. Business growth and keeping skilled workers in the county feature among the administration's stated priorities.
No budget figure for the conference was set out in the minutes. Further details, including any plans for public or business involvement, are expected to be set out in a Council Delivery Plan due to come before Cabinet in November 2026.
