Norfolk Council Approves £11.7m Disabled Facilities Grant for 2026-27
Norfolk County Council has approved an £11.7 million allocation of Disabled Facilities Grant funding for 2026-27, announced by the Department of Health and Social Care. The money forms part of a wider £13.6 million addition to the council's capital programme.
Norfolk County Council has approved an £11.71 million Disabled Facilities Grant for the current financial year, following an announcement by the Department of Health and Social Care.
The grant, which helps fund adaptations to homes — such as ramps, stairlifts, and wet rooms — allows disabled residents to live more independently. It was approved as part of a broader £13.6 million net addition to the council's 2026-27 capital programme.
The same capital programme update also included a £14.45 million borrowing uplift for Independent Living and Supported Living schemes within Adult Social Care, reflecting growing demand for care placements across Norfolk.
Council approved the package of capital changes at its meeting on 21 July 2026, with the recommendations passing 61 votes to zero, with 17 abstentions.
The funding decisions come as the council faces wider financial pressures, with the administration having commissioned an in-depth report into capital and revenue overspends, due by the end of summer 2026.
