The Time and Tide Museum in Great Yarmouth recorded a 75% rise in visitor numbers during its Miffy's 70th Birthday exhibition, with 14,000 people attending compared to 8,000 in the equivalent period the year before.

The exhibition, celebrating the iconic Dutch cartoon rabbit, also generated 4,200 Miffy art trail completions and produced a 440% increase in retail sales against the same period last year.

The museum has since moved on to a Pirates: Fact and Fiction exhibition, which runs until 5 September 2026. That will be followed by The Art of Roller-Skating, opening on 26 September, which will celebrate Great Yarmouth's local roller-skating culture and is expected to draw strong winter audiences.

The Time and Tide Museum recorded 30,000 visitors in total across the 2025/26 municipal year, according to figures presented to the Norfolk Joint Museums Committee on 24 April 2026.

Members also heard that the museum has begun early-stage planning for a longer-term redevelopment project. An expression of interest submitted to the National Lottery Heritage Fund was successful, though the full development is expected to take several years to complete.

Other activity at the museum included a partnership with the University of East Anglia to produce a short animated film about the Gloucester warship, told from the perspective of a ship's rat. The learning team also added a new Ancient Greece session for Year 5 pupils, developed in direct response to requests from local teachers.
