Norfolk County Council will launch a mobile dementia training service next month, with a dedicated bus set to travel across the county from 11 May 2026.

The Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Cllr Alison Thomas, announced the initiative at the 7 April cabinet meeting, describing it as an important step in improving awareness and practical support for people living with dementia.

The bus-based format is designed to bring training directly to communities across Norfolk, rather than requiring people to travel to a fixed venue. No further details about the specific locations or schedule were provided at the meeting.

Cllr Thomas emphasised the broader importance of improving public understanding of dementia, which affects a significant number of Norfolk residents and their families.

The announcement came as Cllr Thomas also confirmed she would not be standing for re-election in the upcoming local elections, with the Chair thanking her for her work alongside two other departing cabinet members.
